Setting sprays are a make-up kit essential and should already be a part of your usual make-up routine.

There are countless setting sprays available, almost every brand (high-end and drugstore) will have their own version of a setting spray. No matter what the label says, all of them are pretty much the same.

The most used and popular setting sprays available and something I used for many years is MAC's Prep & Prime Fix+ ($32) and Urban Decay's All Nighter Long Lasting Setting Spray ($49). They're both a lightweight water mist that refreshes and finishes your makeup.

Now back up for a second..it's a 'water mist'..why am I paying so much for water?

Well, that's the question I asked myself for a while but didn't think much of it because everyone else was using it.

Don't get me wrong, I love these products! But I wasn't too happy about replacing it every time it ran out.

So eventually, I did some research and ended up making my own setting spray..my wallet definitely thanked me for it..

Rose water is one of the best things you can use for your skin. It has anti-inflammatory properties that helps to reduce redness and get rid of acne, eczema and dermatitis. Now if it has all those good things (and costs only a few dollars) then of course I'd want to make it a part of my every day make-up routine!

TIP

Make sure the label says 100% rose water OR 50% rose water and 50% distilled water.

Do not use rose water that has other additives in it as it can be harmful to your skin.

D.I.Y. SETTING SPRAY

All you'll need is an empty spray bottle!

If you're using 100% rose water then use an equal amount of plain water to dilute it and shake well before the first use.

If you're already using rose water that's 50/50 then you're good to go! Just add it to your bottle and get spraying!
